Course Description:
Robotics technology is very prevalent in modern industry and is incorporated in many modern manufacturing facilities. Thus, a thorough understanding of the technology is critical for those who are tasked to improve the productivity, capability, and reliability of the manufacturing systems of their respective industry. This course is the study of teach pendant programming fundamentals of a Fanuc robot with an R30iB controller utilizing the HandlingTool software package.
Course Objective:
The student will achieve a working knowledge of Fanuc Robot's Handling Tool teach pendant programming software to be able to setup, record, and/or troubleshoot programs on a Fanuc R30iB controller.
Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course students will be able to:
1. Understand robot safety concerns
2. Identify and describe the function of the major elements of a robot system.
3. Correctly utilize vocabulary and terminology associated with industrial robotic systems.
4. Power up and jog a Fanuc LR Mate robot
5. Effectively utilize robot frames
6. Recover from common program and robot faults
7. Execute production operations
8. Create and edit robotic programs of moderate complexity using Fanuc's Handling Tool software
9. Create and execute MACROs on a Fanuc industrial robot
10. Monitor, force and simulate input and output signals Method of Instruction: Class time will be spent reviewing topics as indicated followed by hands-on demonstrations and activities to strengthen knowledge retention of concepts learned.
A certification exam will conclude the course. This is a 24-hour course, taught in three (3), eight (8) hour classes schedule on consecutive Fridays. Classes will start at 8 am and conclude at 5 PM with an hour for lunch. Note that lunch and snacks will be provided
