This course is intended to reduce civilian fire casualties by utilizing advanced search and rescue tactics. Attendees will learn aggressive search techniques while searching with or without a hoseline, identifying high target search areas, victim drags and removal, and VEIS implementation in true to life conditions and settings.
The VEIS (vent, enter, isolate, search) portion will be as close to real life as it gets. Attendees will deploy laddders, ventilate windows, enter a smoke filled room, isolate and close a door, and successfully search and remove victime from an IDLH environment.
This class will also focus on engine company operations. Topics covered will include nozzle selection, knowing the flow, and residential vs. commercial fire attack. Additionally, attendees will gain valuable hands on experience in tactics and techniques for stretching, advancing, and operating the initial attack line.
Class will meet on Sept. 13 from 0830 to 1630 hours (extra time if needed after class)
Lunch will be provided.
Required Equipment: Turnout gear, SCBA, water bottle.
Prerequisite: Participants must get a Chief or Training Officer's approval prior to the start of class.
Tuition: $120.00
