Professional Firefighter Academy NFPA 1001

Meets current NFPA 1001 Standard Professional Firefighter Professional Qualifications and including 16 Hours of Driver's Training. (All University of Akron students will receive 12 credit hours towards their Fire Protection Associate degree upon completion of this course and passing the State Examination.)

Dates: Jan. 13 through May 14, 2026
Classes meet Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00-10:00 pm and Saturday from 8:30-5:30pm (with a 1-hour lunch) There will be weekend sessions both Sat and Sun for burn days at the end of class.

Location: Macedonia Fire Department, 9691 Valley View Road, Macedonia, OH 44056

Tuition: $3900+ $600 gear rental if needed

Payment Options: Full Payment before first day of class - OR -
Payment Plan - $1,300 before first day of class + $600 gear rental if needed.
$1,300 last day of Feb.
$1,300 last day of March

A medical Form must be completed by a physician and either mailed to The Training Center for Fire and Hazardous Materials, University of Akron, Polsky Building Room 327, Akron, OH 44325-4304, or dropped off at Polsky 327.
