This course is intended to reduce civilian fire casualties by utilizing advanced search and rescue tactics. Attendees will learn aggressive search techniques while searching with or without a hoseline, identifying high target search areas, victim drags and removal, and VEIG implementation in true to life conditions and settings.
The VEIS (vent, enter, isolate, search) portion will be as close to real life as it gets. Attendees will deploy laddders, ventilate windows, enter a smoke filled room, isolate and close a door, and successfully search and remove victime from an IDLH environment.
Class will meet on March 26, 2019 from 0800 to 1600 hours (extra time if needed after class)
Required Equipment: Turnout gear, SCBA, water bottle. There will be a working lunch (not provided)
Prerequisite: Participants must get a Chief or Training Officer's approval prior to the start of class.
